Good evening Sidener Families,
So, we had some big changes today! We are saddened and heard from several staff members that they are also saddened by not being able to see students in person, however, everyone fully understands the decision to go full remote learning.
Just to try and answer some immediate questions:
Sidener students will still be taught virtually by their assigned Sidener teachers. Students will be given daily schedules to follow so they know when they will be engaged with a classroom teacher and their unified art teachers.
There will be no district learning packets this time. All students will receive a device. Our 2nd graders will be receiving an iPad and 3rd through 8th grade will receive a Chromebook. Technology will be distributed from the school, but has not been delivered yet. We know that it is slated to be in our buildings in the next week and we will communicate dates and the process to pick up devices as soon as we can.
All virtual class times will be held using Microsoft Teams per district guidelines. All assignments, resources, and grades will be accessible in Schoology per district guidelines.
We know that this change in plans means that many of you are reassessing how your families will engage in school for the next couple of months. Many of our staff members are also currently figuring out what this will look like for their families. We have our first staff meeting on Friday morning to review virtual schedules. Please look for further communication to come in the next two weeks including more information on how we will be conducting virtual back to school presentations for parents to hear from each teacher.
Again, we recognize that these are big changes and we will do our very best to ensure that we communicate clearly and ensure that your student feels prepared to begin a successful school year on August 17.
