Ms. Katy Blocher
Hello! I am thrilled to be joining the Shortridge family this year as the Woodwind Instructor. My primary instrument is clarinet, though I enjoy doubling on other instruments, especially for musical theater and opera. Outside of teaching, I am active as a professional musician. This year marks the beginning of my fourteenth season with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra, and I also perform freelance with other regional symphonies, concert bands, and musical theaters.

In college, I double majored in music and Spanish, with a culminating recital of Spanish and Latin American music. This sparked a lifelong fascination with ethnomusicology, and also my passion for maintaining a variety of interests. When I am not making music, I can be found blues dancing, weight lifting, biking, and travelling. My daughter Lylah is my constant travel companion in life.
