¡Hola a todas y todos!
I am thrilled to be teaching Spanish at Shortridge this year! This will be my third year as a teacher in IPS and I am grateful for the opportunities that #myIPS has to offer.
I was born in Freeport, New York and grew up in Austin, Minnesota in a multilingual family and community with ties to Mexico and El Salvador. Throughout high school I discovered my love for languages and because of that I had the opportunity to participate in a Rotary Youth Exchange for one year in France. I studied at Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN and got my B.A. in Anthropology and Modern Languages (French and Spanish). I also became certified in teaching English as a foreign language and ended up going back to study in France for one semester during college in Nice, in the South of France.
One of my favorite places is Bucharest, Romania where I taught Human Rights, Cultural Studies and Communication at a public school for six years.
In my spare time I like to study languages, read and travel. Because of my love for languages I currently speak six languages. I love art and like to paint in my spare time.
I’m currently in my second year of a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and broadening my knowledge of world language pedagogy.
