My name is Chloe Richardson and I teach English 9 and 10 here at Shortridge High School after spending the past 4 years teaching Language Arts in a middle school setting. After graduating from high school with the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, I set my sights on Butler University, and have enjoyed living and exploring in Indianapolis ever since. I am a two-time graduate of Butler, with an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education (English) and a Masters Degree in Effective Teaching and Leadership (METL). During my Masters Degree work, I studied the impact of reading and sharing stories in the classroom, and how a focus on reading stories develops more empathetic human beings. This focus on stories and building empathy is core to my professional and personal life as stories help us navigate and understand the world and people around us.

While I reside in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood of Indianapolis, I love to travel around the United States as well as internationally, and I lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for four months when I studied abroad in college. When I am not teaching, I love to read, try out new recipes, and hone my trivia skills with the hopes of appearing on Jeopardy! one day.
