Graduation Requirements

Diploma Designations

The Indiana State Board of Education adopts course and credit requirements for earning a high school diploma. Students have the option of earning an Indiana Diploma with the following designation(s):

  • General
  • Core 40
  • Core 40 with Academic Honors (AHD)
  • Core 40 with Technical Honors (THD)

To earn an Indiana Diploma, students in the graduating classes of 2019 – 2022 must:

  • Meet all course and credit requirements; and
  • Pass Math & English exit exams / qualify for a waiver; or
  • Complete the Graduation Pathways.

To earn an Indiana Diploma, students in the graduating class of 2023 and beyond must:

  • Meet all course and credit requirements; and
  • Complete the Graduation Pathways.

Graduation Pathways

The Indiana State Board of Education has implemented new Graduation Pathways for Indiana high school students. These pathways allow students to obtain an awareness of individual career interests and options, and to achieve strong academic, technical and employability skills.
