End of First Quarter

Dear Blue Devil Community:

We made it! It’s fall break and the end of the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year. There were some ups and downs, joys and sorrows, but — together — we did something we haven’t done in a long time: be in school together!

Thank you to our students for doing their part: being here, wearing masks, picking up masks on the way in, asking questions, helping each other out. Without students here, this historic building rings hollow.

Thank you to our our parents and extended family members! Thank you for waking up, dropping off, picking up, and showing up in the ways you do for your kids. Thank you!

Brief Updates

  • Quarter 1 grades can be found on PowerSchool: powerschool.myips.org. We believe in growth; those grades can improve as students continue to complete work, ask questions, and build their confidence. If your child is struggling in a class, we suggest having them write a concrete, small goal. A goal of “asking one question in class” will translate into greater confidence and success. (Information about PowerSchool can be found here.)
  • Transportation updates are happening. You can see updated transportation in PowerSchool. We emailed a list home earlier this week to those families and placed the information on Schoology for students to see.
  • Calendar Highlights. Fall Break is October 9 – October 18. Students return to school on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Students in Grades 9, 10, and 11 will take the PSAT on Tuesday, October 26. Seniors only will have a virtual day that day.
  • Class of 2022! Representatives from Josten’s will be here on October 27 to talk with seniors about Caps and Gowns.

We hope you find some time to refresh and recharge this next week. We look forward to seeing what all these young adults can do when they return on Tuesday, October 19!

Be well and be safe!
