Hello Grade 10 Families:

I am writing in regards to the upcoming Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress Plus (ISTEP+) 10 test, which your child will be participating during the coming months. The ISTEP+ Grade 10 are the state-mandated graduation examination requirement for earning an Indiana high school diploma.  Therefore, every Indiana student in the graduating class of 2019 and beyond must demonstrate mastery of the Indiana Academic Standards, as measured by the ISTEP+ Grade 10 English/Language Arts and Mathematics assessments.

Currently, these assessments are administered in two part. Part 1 will be administered starting March 1. Part 2 will be administered mid-April. Both Part 1 and Part 2 are required components of the ISTEP+ program and are used to measure student mastery of the Indiana Academic Standards.

If students do not pass either subject-specific ISTEP+ exams, they will be required retake the assessment until earning a passing score on both the English and Math assessments, or students will completes graduation pathway requirements. Graduation requirements can be found here: https://myips.org/domain/12059.

IPS may provide opportunities for remediation or retaking the assessment during the summer.

We strongly encourage you to speak to your scholar about the importance of doing one’s best on these upcoming examinations; additional instructional opportunities will continue to occur by instructors until the week of the exam. It is strongly encouraged that every scholar takes advantage of these resources and additional sessions to ensure his or her success.
