Homecoming is happening in a couple weeks.  Thank you to the Student Council and Student Government for working to plan some fun and exciting ways to celebrate. 


Homecoming Court:


Scholars can sign up to run for a position on Homecoming Court by signing up at the Student Government table at lunch today and tomorrow.  Voting will take place in ATL on Thursday. Court will be announced on Friday and winners will be announced at Halftime of the Homecoming Game.


Spirit Week:


September 18 – 22 will be Spirit Week. The main activity will be participating in fun dress up themes each day.  If you are not dressing in the theme, regular uniforms are required.  When selecting your theme attire, be aware of basic school dress code rules – no over exposure of your body or accessories that will be unsafe, offensive or distracting.   


Monday– Sports Day – wear your favorite team gear.


Tuesday– Old & Young Day – dress like a baby, little kid, old lady, old man. 


Wednesday– Squad Day – find a friend or friends and dress alike.


Thursday – Class Color Day – show your class pride & spirit by wearing clothes and accessories in your classes color theme.

Seniors –black

Juniors – white

Sophomores – red



Friday – Blue Devil Day – Wear your Shortridge Swag!  If you need some, Student Government is selling $10 t-shirts in the lunch room every day until September 22nd.  Sweatshirts, hats etc. can be purchased in the book store on Fridays between 8:30 – 9:00am.


Every day – Stop by the Student Government Table at lunch to participate in the “Thumbs- up for Graduation Art Project”.  Each person from each class will put their thumb print and first name on a canvas with their graduation year to be hung in the school. 


Pep Rally:  10:20 – 11:00 am – New Gym


On September 22nd, Friday Connect will be a Pep Rally to recognize all our Fall Sports teams and Athletes and general School Spirit.  This will take place in the New Gym.  Move quickly to the gym so we can have a fun rally without being late to lunch!



IPS Food Bus: 11:00 – 1:00pm – normal B-Day lunch rotation – North Side Driveway/Commons/Courtyard



For a more festive and fun lunch break on Homecoming day, the IPS Lunch Bus will be on campus.  They will serve a special picnic menu from an old bus converted to a food truck. This is part of the free meal plan so it will not cost you a thing!   You have a choice of Hamburger or Hot dog.  Sides of Baked beans, carrots and fruit.  Also, available will be Milk and Fruit Smoothies.  


Tailgate:  4:00 – 6:15pm – North Side Driveway


There will be games, music and activities in the driveway and parking lot on the North Side of the building.  The event is free but some activities may have a small fee.  The concession stand will be open. 



Homecoming Game: 7:00 – 9:00ish – Shortridge Football Field


Before the game, all Seniors from the Fall Sports teams will be honored before the game.  Alumni will be recognized.   


7:00 kick off against Elkhart


Halftime:  The court will be presented and the winners revealed.



Dance:  9:00 – 11:00 pm – Commons and Courtyard


Attire is Casual to Semi-Formal.  If you need dress clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. – visit The Shoppe in room 216 after school on Wednesday’s.  Low cost rental or very low purchase prices are available to SHS Scholars.


there will be dancing and snacks in the Commons and Courtyard.


Guests who are not SHS scholars need to complete the guest form available from the Student Government table at lunch or front desk.



Ticket Sales:


Stop by the Student Government Table at lunch this week and next to purchase your tickets. 


Game Only:  $5 for both the advance sale and at the gate.

Dance Only: $7 Early Bird price ($10 at the door, cash only)

Wristband Special:  $10 Game & Meal (not available at the door)

Wristband Special:  $15 Game, Meal and Dance (not available at the door)


(Wristband Meal =Hotdog, Chips, can of soda or bottled water)
