Coffee with the Principal

 

Join us in the Parent Center (Room 175) for coffee and pastries this Friday, Sept 1st  at 8:00.  Meet the new Assistant Principal and have Q&A time Mr. O’Day!  Park on the south side of the building on eastbound 34th street or in the parking lot just off of 34th street.  Enter Door 12 and turn to your left. 

 

Bookstore Hours

 

The SHS Athletic Boosters open the bookstore every Friday we have school at 8:30 am.  Stop in and buy your swag for fall sports season. 

 

Freshman Family Picnic

 

Freshmen Families! 

 

You are invited to a Family Picnic on Sept 9th from 6-8 pm here at Shortridge in the courtyard. Please email Kim Schmidtt at k21schmitt@gmail.com with the name of your 9th grader, your name and the number of people attending from your family by Sept. 1st.

Senior Parent Night/FAFSA Night

 

Please join the SHS Counseling Department on September 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. to learn about important senior details and deadlines as well as the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA)

 

Thinker Thursday

 

Our community partners at 1st Maker Space will be offering Thinker Thursdays we have school in September and October.  Please check out this information sheet and permission/release form.  If you scholar would like to participate, please send them to their first visit with the signed form.

 

Girls Scouts

Freshman and Sophomore girls are invited to learn more about the High School program. At Girl Scouts, girls are always counting down to the next adventure they’ll go on together. Maybe it’s artistic. Maybe it’s an experiment. Maybe it’s getting outside or helping the community. One thing’s for sure. Every adventure is another chance to take the lead and make an impact. 

As a Senior or Ambassador, it’s your time to shine as you—

  • Earn college scholarships
  • Show your leadership skills
  • Expand your world
  • Be more confident
  • Make a real difference in your community

With us, the possibilities are endless. Earn your Gold Award. Be a mentor to younger girls or try your hand as a camp counselor. Get together with friends to make the world a better place. Together, you’ll find out you’re capable of more than you ever imagined.

The SHOPPE:

 

Homecoming season is here and The SHOPPE has Homecoming and Special Occasion Dress Rental for $5.  Stop by on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 5:00pm to check out the selection.

 

Adult volunteers needed to assist on Wednesdays.  Contact Marie Lowe at 317-750-5907 to help out.

 

Have any extra pant hangers (the ones with sticky cardboard or fabric) around the house?  Donate them to The SHOPPE.

 

 

International Travel & Language Opportunity

 

The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) is pleased to announce the 2018-19 application is now available on our website

 

We are very excited to introduce the addition of an 8th NSLI-Y language: Bahasa Indonesia! In addition to the existing NSLI-Y languages and program sites, a Bahasa Indonesia program will take place in Indonesia in summer 2018. Note that only a summer program in Bahasa Indonesia will be available for the 2018-19 cycle. For more information on the new NSLI-Y language, we encourage you to visit the Bahasa Indonesia page on our website.

 

Before starting or completing your NSLI-Y application, be sure to review our eligibility guidelines,FAQs, and download the application instructions document to guide you as you complete the application. 

 

The application is due online on November 2nd, 4:00 P.M. U.S. Eastern Time.Please be mindful of all application deadlines, as late applications and materials will not be accepted. Please review the application timeline below and mark your calendars:
