Wednesday Weekly for August 9th, 2017

$(document).ready(function () {

Dear Shortridge Families,

Welcome to the 2017 – 2018 School Year!  This note is called the Wednesday Weekly (sometimes the Thursday Things) Newsletter.  This is meant to highlight items that are important over the next 7-10 days.  This is not an exhaustive list of opportunities or information about the happenings on campus or in the community but a good reminder of things you need to attend, sign, pay or volunteer to do.  Statistics show that students do better in school when the adults in their lives are involved.  As Parent Involvement Educator, this is my way to pop up on your phone or computer with weekly reminders of how to stay connected and supportive in your scholar’s school life. Also, don’t forget to check out ManageBac, the Shortridge Website, and eventually the Family Connection College and Career Planning page regularly as well. These are resources to find out details about the academic work and future planning of the scholars as well as how to engage in the Shortridge Community by attending athletic events, musical performances, theatre programs and family events on campus. Without further ado…

 Check out these highlights for the week ahead.

Don’t miss Back-to-School Night!

Wednesday August 16th is Back-to-School Night at 6:15 pm. Start by picking up you scholar’s schedule and information about Week Without Walls in the Commons.  At 6:30, class rotations begin for you to meet teachers, hear about the class goals and see the classrooms.  At the end of the evening, a Q&A session will be held in the Media Center.

Need help transitioning your child’s uniform?

Shortridge uniform colors are: bottoms – black, blue, or khaki. Collared tops – white, black, or royal blue. Sweaters or fleeces should also be white, black, or royal blue (no hoods unless SHS spirit wear).

If you have non-Shortridge colors, The SHOPPE can help you. We will provide you with approved colors and take your non-SHS colors and donate them to other IPS schools. All for FREE!  Do you have the right colors, but the wrong sizes (those darn kids keep growing?!).  The SHOPPE will also trade sizes.

We are open every Wednesday from 4-5:15. We will also be open for Back-to-School night. Questions call or text Marie Lowe at 317-750-5907.

Volunteers Needed!

We have many events and activities this first quarter and your help is needed to make them successful.  Volunteering is also a great way to meet new people and be involved as a parent.  The opportunities include event staffing, item donation and committee or task force participation.  All families are expected to participate in at least one event or group each semester.  To select your contributions, click this link:  Volunteer Sign Up
