Dear Shortridge Families,

Check out these highlights for the week ahead.

April 6th – PTSA Meeting. These are open to all families. Hope to see you in the Parent Center at 7pm. Get involved in spring events and the election process for next school year.

April 7th – Coffee with the Principal at 8am – 9am in the parent center, Rm 175. Learn about Spring Events, seek peek of next year’s calendar and Q&A with Mr. O’Day. Park on the south side of 34th street, enter Door 12.

April 7th – Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for WWW Chaperones and Scholarships. Join us in the Commons between 6-8 pm. $5 per person. If you can volunteer, contact Lori Armstrong.

Next Week:

April 11th – College Planning 101 & Parent Panel 6-8pm: The SHS Counseling Department will provide some basic information regarding graduation requirements and counseling tasks being completed with 9th and 10th graders. Also, a representative from INvested will present on the topic of early college awareness and how to prepare financially. The panel discussion will include parents with students in college now. They will speak about surprises they encountered and tips about things they wish they had known.

April 11th – Reminder: National Society Induction at 6pm. Invitation only.

April 13th – Coffee with the Principal – Evening Edition. Join Mr O’Day at Broadripple Brew Pub, 6-7pm. Learn about Spring Events, seek peek of next year’s calendar and Q&A with Mr. O’Day.

Athletic Boosters –

Next Booster Club meeting will be on Monday, April 17th from 6-7:30. 
Agenda: discussion on Fundraising,
Teamsnap, A representative from NEFF (letter Jacket) will be on hand. 
Volunteer opportunities for sports.

Senior sports recognition is April 24th at 6:30 during Track & Field. 

The Boosters are opening the Book Store every Friday from 8:30 – 9:00am. Get the latest Spirit Gear for Spring Sports!

Check the Shortridge Website Calendar for the schedule of all the teams. Come out and support our scholar athletes.

Shortridge Community Garden Message:
I will be starting work on the courtyard garden soon and would love help from any student, parent or grandparent who has an interest in gardening or who would just like to get their hands dirty. No experience necessary. We will be cleaning up the garden planning and planting seeds, flowers, and vegetables for harvest in the fall. I will be working in the courtyard ( weather permitting) on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 starting the first of April. Feel free to call or email me at:

Prom Season is upon us – adult volunteers are needed in The SHOPPE starting mid-March through Prom at end of May. If you are able to help, contact Marie Lowe at

The Prom Shoppe is open! Stop in Wednesdays 4 – 5:15. Rent dresses, Tuxes and shoes for $8. Many styles, sizes and colors.

Message from the PTSA:
Shortridge Parents, Alumni, Staff, and Community Supporters are invited to join us on Saturday, April 22 at 7pm for the 2nd annual GLOBAL GALA!  Don’t let the name fool you, this is not a formal event, but is a fun, adults-only get together to build our school community and raise some funds!  Tickets are now available–for $25, you’ll get food, 2 drink tickets, and 5 raffle tickets!
