January 27th – First Annual International Soup-erBowl is finally here!

To celebrate our International Baccalaureate community and share our cultural
heritage, we invite our Shortridge family to an evening of fun, food & fellowship. Join us Friday, 
January 27th, 6-9 pm Shortridge High School Commons

EAT! – Chicken Noodle and Vegetable Soup, Crackers, and Lemonade provided
PLAY! – Bingo, Corn Hole, Ping-Pong, Uno, & any games you want to share!
WIN! – Prizes like: Principal-for-the-day, the Golden Ladle, & door prizes galore!

To celebrate the big game in February, wear your favorite team gear!

January 27th is the last day to Nominate your favorite Shortridge High Teacher or Administrator for the Hubbard Life Changing Educator Award! Click here to complete the form.

January 31st – Deadline to contribute to the Goodwill Donation Drive

This is your last weekend to clean those closets and donate your unwanted items to any Goodwill Store Jan. 1-31, 2017 and tell them you support Shortridge High School. We earn vouchers for all donations and we are competing with other schools. The school with the most donations per student wins a trophy. We are currently in 6th place out of 38 schools!

January 31st – Deadline to register and submit deposit or Class of 2017 Senior Trip to Chatanooga TN in May. Check your ManageBac messages for more details and a copy of permission form if you need a new one.

January 31st – $100 discount ends for Class of 2018 Costa Rica Trip
Class of 2018, For those of you who may still be on the fence about joining the Costa Rica Trip, the $100 discount ends January 31st. If you have questions, please come see Trisha Miller or visit the Costa Rica website

Q&A with Mr. O’Day Coffee Talks – By popular request! Join Mr. O’Day in the Parent Center Room 175 at 8:00 am – 9:00 am on the First Friday of the Month from Feb through June, 2017. Bring your questions or learn more about events happening on campus. A special evening session is scheduled for April 13th at 6pm. Location TBA.

February 3rd – First Friday at the MLK Center kicks off Black History Month.

We are proud to announce that Mr. O’Day has been invited to join other community leaders in our school neighborhood in reciting Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a Dream” speech at the MLK Center, 40 W. 40th Street at 6pm on Feb. 3rd. After the reading, a new art piece will be unveiled and an art exhibit will be open for public viewing. We encourage our families to attend. More details on this flyer.

February 7th – Deadline for Week Without Walls Trip deposits and Permission forms.
Check your ManageBac Messages for your grade level details about Week Without Walls overnight trips including payment deadlines, itinerary proposals and permission forms. If you do not have access to a printer, scholars can pick up forms at lunch and outside room 312.

February 9th – DP Art Show opening event at 6pm in CMA with gallery hours until 9:00 pm. IB Parent Info Meeting at 6:30 pm about IB Exams: role in earning the IB Diploma and College Credit. Also, tips on supporting your scholar through study preparation and stress management. This parent meeting is going to be the most useful to families of Seniors but all families are welcome!
