Longfellow Middle School

    • Feedback Received: Enhancing the athletic experience in the form of football field improvements is gendered and too focused on one sport.
    • Proposed Plan Update: Update the plans for that school site to include a multi-sport practice and competition field.
    • Impact: There is no change to construction timeline or costs. Only change is intended future use of the stadium.

    Starting in the 2024-25 school year, Longfellow will become an lB World School serving grades 6–8.

    We are also proposing a move of the Longfellow STEM program to the Arlington Middle School facility.

    Your school will receive these athletic and/or facility improvements… 

    We propose improving the athletics fields and outdoor spaces of the facility to ensure students have a robust extracurricular experience. 

    You may follow your STEM/Medical Magnet programming to the Arlington location (default options) – OR – you can stay at the Longfellow location and attend the IB World Middle School by applying for a guaranteed seat through the Enroll Indy lottery.

    If you would like to continue in your STEM/Medical Magnet program at the new Arlington building, you do not need to do anything. 

    If you do not choose to follow your program to the new school, you have enhanced priority and IPS-provided transportation to any school in your zone of residence, and you have a guaranteed seat at Longfellow if you apply in the lottery.

    If you would like to attend a different school…

    You can apply via the Enroll Indy Lottery before April 20, 2023, with the closing school priority and receive transportation to any school in your Zone of residence.

    Rebuilding Stronger is our commitment to ensuring there are excellent choices open to every single one of our students, in every school, in every neighborhood. As part of this commitment, IPS is making facility improvements at Henry W. Longfellow Middle School.

    Special Education Services

    Your school will offer AU (Nest) and Life Skills programming in the 23-24 school year. If you have questions about your student who is progressing to a grade level that will not be served at this school in the 23-24 school year, or if you have other special education related questions, please reach out to your student’s Teacher of Record or call (463) 232-6908.
