Greetings parents and guardians,
I hope your Thanksgiving holiday was enjoyable. I wanted to take some time to let you know that I appreciate you and all that you are doing to support our scholars, as well as the teachers and staff at Ralph Waldo Emerson. You have done an amazing job in helping us maintain the safety as well as academic needs of all our scholars. Thank you so much for encouraging your scholars to sign in and complete assignments last Monday and Tuesday. Please encourage them to complete all outstanding assignments.

As we shift again to 100% virtual learning, we are committed to making sure that we have support in place for all scholars that will maximize learning. We are again asking that you also put in place structures that are necessary for student success. We have learned a lot from our first experience with virtual learning. We have had opportunities to reflect with our teachers and school leaders and are certain that the planning and preparation for this shift will yield results. Listed below are a few ideas and areas of support that would be very helpful from you.
1. Attendance will be taken as usual and treated the same as face to face attendance. Classes will begin at 8:55. Mrs. Pulley will continue to monitor attendance.

2.Make sure scholars are present at the beginning of the school day and dressed appropriately. Scholars who are not dressing appropriately will be asked to wear uniforms. Scholars should avoid wearing pajamas or other bed dresses. Boys must have on shirts when they are in front of the camera.

3.Remember that everything in the background of your scholar’s camera view is seen/heard by other students and parents. Please help us maintain an appropriate academic learning environment when you or other members of your family are in view of the camera.

4.Please plan so that errands and other activities do not conflict with their school day.

5.If you need headphones you may contact Ms. Mariah.

Please know that your scholar’s schedule is much tighter than it was during our last round of virtual learning. We are very excited that we were able to include more time for small group instruction. Teachers will help you and your scholars navigate through schedules on Monday, 11/30 and Tuesday, 12/1.

If you have questions about your child’s schedule, please contact the teacher.

Lastly, remember to check the IPS web site for feeding times and locations. Our school will not be a feeding site but Brookside, School 54 will be.

Thank you for allowing us to come into your home again! We appreciate your support and ideas!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jean Ely, Principal
Mrs. Krystal Morrisey, Assistant Principal
