Parent /Families/Community Involvement

Parent participation is part of the student’s success in the Montessori program. Parents are partners at School 87.

  • Our community partners are an important part of our school family. They volunteer at events, help provide resources for our students and classrooms, and volunteer in the classroom.
  • Our school has a very active PTA.  They meet once a month. The primary function of the PTA is to identify needs of the school. The PTA makes sure they pursue all avenues to fulfill needs.
  • The PTA encourages all parents, grandparents and other influential adults to participate in the school.
  • The PTA develops events to raise funds, encourage involvement, and provide entertainment to our community.
  • The PTA activities include…
  • A Back to School Open House, a Fall Festival, Art Fair, African American Heritage Night, Hispanic Heritage Night, and End of the Year BASH.  These events are to highlight student success & bring families and school together for fun.
  • The PTA also has yearly Fundraisers and does Dine to Donates at local eating establishments.  This helps get funds for classroom materials and student supplies
