GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER SCHOOL 87
We are a proud member of the Indianapolis Public Schools community of Montessori schools serving grades Pre-K through 8.
EMBRACING PEACE, LOVE, KINDNESS AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Welcome to George Washington Carver School 87, where we foster an environment that blends the Montessori method with a diverse and inclusive community experience. Led by our dedicated principal, Mary Kapcoe, we are proud to offer a comprehensive academic program ranging from English Language Learner services to Gifted and Talented/High Ability programs, alongside our core Montessori curriculum.
We believe in fostering relationships that extend beyond our classrooms. With 24 community partnerships, we integrate our students into the vibrant life of Indianapolis through engagements with groups like Kiwanis, Boy Scouts of America, and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.
The Montessori method at our school is an individualized, child-centered approach to learning, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Focused on self-directed activity, keen observation, and hands-on learning experiences, we create a peaceful and pleasant learning environment for every student. We also promote parent participation, as we believe that it’s integral to student success.
