The Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Logistics Academy offers pathways in the following areas: advanced manufacturing, engineering and logistics.

Advanced Manufacturing Pathway

Students investigate the properties of engineered materials and study major types of material processes, including tooling, electrical, operation and inventory principles. Students use hands-on projects and team activities to apply learning in the areas of safety and impact, electricity, manufacturing essentials, fluid power principles, mechanical principles and lean manufacturing.

Students work toward earning college credit and an industry-recognized certification through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC).

Engineering Pathway

Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product.

They discover and explore manufacturing processes, product design, robotics and automation, then apply what has been learned to design solutions for real-world manufacturing problems.

Students use computer-controlled rapid prototyping and CNC equipment to solve problems by constructing actual models of 3D designs.

Students are introduced to the physical components of finished product handling. Topics include logistics systems, supply chain management, order, demand inventory and warehouse management, and the control systems and automated components of logistics systems.

Banking and Finance Pathway

Students learn skills in analyzing and recording business transactions and interpreting financial reports as a basis for decision-making. They gain an understanding of management, team building, leadership and problem-solving steps and processes that contribute to the achievement of organizational goals. Students participate in a banking and finance capstone course and experience running an on-site bank.

Students learn about starting and operating a business, marketing products and services, and learning how to find resources to help in the development of a new venture. The entrepreneurial process of opportunity recognition, innovation, value proposition, competitive advantage, venture concept, feasibility analysis, and “go to” market strategies are explored through mini-case studies. Students gain an understanding of management, team building, leadership, problem-solving steps and processes that contribute to the achievement of organizational goals.

The Information Technology Academy offers pathways in the following areas: IT support, software development and cybersecurity.

IT Support Pathway

Students participate as members of the Tech Squad to help service computers and other technology devices on campus. Students learn about local and wide area networks, home networking, and networking standards using the IEEE/OSI Model, network protocols, transmission media and network architecture/topologies. They work toward earning a CompTIA Fundamentals Certification in Networking.

Students explore and build skills in programming and a achieve basic understanding of the fundamentals of procedural program development using structured, modular concepts.

They work toward earning college credit through AP and concurrent enrollment advanced course work. Students creatively address real-world issues and concerns while using the same processes and tools as artists, writers, computer scientists and engineers to bring ideas to life. This pathway branches into three concentration options for students: computer programming, UX design (Kenzie Academy cohort) and cybersecurity.
