Early Childhood Education Pathway

The early childhood education pathway prepares students for careers that involve working with children from birth to 8 years old. Students participate in 480 hours of clinical experiences working with children. They learn about career paths in early childhood education, including promoting child development and learning; building family and community relationships; observing, documenting and assessing to support young children and families; and using developmentally effective approaches.

  • Grade 9: Preparing for College and Careers/Nutrition and Wellness 
  • Grade 10: Child Development/Interpersonal Relationships
  • Grade 11: Education Professions I 
  • Grade 12: Education Professions II 

Career Possibilities

  • High School Diploma + Certification: Day Care Operator, Youth Director, Coach
  • Associate Degree (2 Years): Teacher’s Aide, Community Program Director, Early Childhood Center Teacher
  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 Years): Kindergarten Teacher, Social Worker

Education Professions Pathway

The education professions pathway provides the foundation for employment in education and related careers and prepares students for study in higher education. Students participate in exploratory field experiences as a cadet teacher. They also learn about the teaching profession, the learner and the learning process, planning instruction, about the learning environment, and instructional and assessment strategies.
