IPS School Options for the 2024–25 School Year

Remember, when applying to an IPS school for the 2024–25 school year, that the district will have moved to dedicated elementary and middle schools and new educational models. The district also offers a variety of innovation and high school options. Learn about these exciting choices and more below:

IPS Families of 1st–8th Grade Students:

Your middle schooler can go farther faster through IPS’ Early High School advanced coursework options. For the 2024-25 school year, ALL IPS district-managed middle schools will offer the following high school-level courses:

  • Honors Algebra I
  • Honors Geometry
  • Spanish I
  • Honors Biology

New for the 2024-25 school year: Students who qualify as high ability in either English Language Arts (ELA) or Math can apply to high-ability schools Merle Sidener Academy 59 (Grades 1-5) and or Harshman Middle School (Grades 6-8). In addition to the advanced coursework options offered at other IPS middle schools, Harshman will offer Honors English 9, Honors Algebra II, Spanish II, and Citizenship and Civics.

All IPS students take an ability assessment in Kindergarten and in fifth grade to determine whether they qualify as high ability. Families who wish to have their child tested in a grade other than Kindergarten or 5th grade should request testing through their school’s high ability facilitator.

Beginning November 1, families can apply to IPS schools for the 2024-25 school year through Enroll Indy’s OneMatch App at www.enrollindy.org/apply.

Arlington , Broad Ripple, Longfellow, Northwest, T.C. Howe and William Penn Middle School offer:

Through the district’s Rebuilding Stronger plan, IPS enhanced access to our Pre-K program by redistributing seats across Zones to ensure that you, as parents, have more Pre-K options closer to your home.

Our Pre-K program, which serves children turning 4 years old on or before August 1st, is  developmentally appropriate, offering play-based experiences that support physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth.

New for the 2024-25 School Year:

  • Qualifying for the OMW Pre-K voucher is not a requirement, but applying for it is required.
  • The application for OMW Pre-K opens in March 2024. However, this does not prohibit families from applying for a Pre-K seat on Nov. 1, 2023, when the enrollment window opens for the 2024-25 school year.
  • Families who receive a Pre-K seat for the 2024-25 school year will be guaranteed a Kindergarten seat at the same school for the 2025-26 school year.

Don’t forget … Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year begins Nov. 1.

Enrollment must be completed through the two-round Enroll Indy OneMatch App at www.enrollindy.org/apply.
