Mr. John Stevenson — MYP MATHEMATICS TEACHER
Hello. This will be my 14th year teaching at IPS and also my 14th year as a teacher. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was an aircraft mechanic for 20 years. I served in the United States Air Force and worked in the civilian airline industry as well. I was even able to work on both of the NASA 747s that carried the United States Space Shuttle orbiters. In 2009 I was awarded a grant to the United States Space Academy for Educators with teachers from all over the world.
I have several hobbies that keep me very busy. I loved coaching robotics at my former school, and I am very excited to have been given a grant to bring a robotics team to elementary aged students at CFI. In addition, I spend time with my wife and two daughters. I am also a drummer in a local rock band and enjoy assisting students interested in becoming drummers too.
I consider myself a lifelong learner and constantly question everything. I try to learn something new every day and hope to pass my love of learning to my students. I am excited to become a member of CFI 2, and I am very excited to work with such a wonderful staff, students, and parents who are involved with this school.
