Ms. Kathleen Rauth, Media Specialist
I graduated from Ball State University in 1985 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Theater. I moved to Chicago in 1986 and completed my MS in Theatre at Northwestern University. In 1987 I began a ten year time teaching as a Creative Drama Specialist in the Evanston Public Schools. In 1997-1999 I moved to San Francisco and taught 5thgrade in an Arts Magnet school in the Redwood City Public Schools. In 1999 I returned to Chicago and worked as a grant coordinator for an Annenberg Foundation Grant teaching the Theory of Multiple Intelligences with 3 schools in CPS. The next 5 years I taught in several schools in CPS as a drama specialist, 2nd grade teacher and Reading Support teacher. I then went back to school at National-Louis University to receive my Library Media Endorsement and returned to Evanston to be a Media Specialist for 6 years. Last year love brought me to Indianapolis and I was lucky to join the CFI community at CFI 27 as Media Specialist and Title 1 teacher. This year I am splitting my time between CFI 2 and CFI 27 as Media Specialist.
As you can see I enjoy a challenge and look forward to new experiences that stretch me as a human and as a teacher. The common thread through all of these experiences is my passion for books and for cultural diversity. I am a passionate lover of nature and of multicultural art and stories. I can also be seen haunting 2nd hand stores looking for undiscovered treasures! Joining the CFI community has been a perfect match for my love of inquiry, arts and social justice.
