Mrs. Tina Ahlgren
Tina C. Ahlgren serves as one of our MYP Mathematics teachers and as a mathematics instructional coach here at Center for Inquiry #2. A graduate of DePauw University, Mrs. Ahlgren has worked in the Indianapolis Public Schools for the past 15 years, primarily as a high school math teacher. She spent the first seven years of her career at T.C. Howe Community High School, where she taught Algebra 1, Calculus, AVID, and several middle school courses. She also spent three years as the Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 teacher at Shortridge High School before moving to Arlington High School to serve as their mathematics and data instructional coach. She joined the team at CFI 2 in 2018, and has enjoyed bringing this experience to the K-8 level to help prepare students for their own mathematics journey beyond Center for Inquiry.
In 2014, Mrs. Ahlgren had the honor of receiving both the inaugural Hubbard Life-Changing Teacher Award and Indianapolis Public Schools Teacher of the Year. She would go on to be a runner-up for Indiana Teacher of the Year. She heavily involved in the world of education policy, advocating for students and teachers at the local, state, and national level. She is active in the Indianapolis Education Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, and even had the opportunity this year to be a delegate to the Representative Assembly of the National Education Association. Mrs. Ahlgren has served on many local and state committees, testifying before both the Indiana House and Senate with regards to education legislation.
Mrs. Ahlgren is proud to not only be an IPS teacher, but also an IPS resident and parent. She lives in Historic Irvington with her family, and her son, Elijah, attends CFI #2.
