Koch, Ramona (SPED)

I have taught in Indianapolis Public Schools for 27 years. My first year with IPS I was a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom, but I spent the next two years advocating for my students to be included in the general education classrooms for most, if not all, of the school day. I always wanted to be an inclusive general education teacher that had students with special needs so I spent the following sixteen years teaching grades 1 – 5, including four consecutive years in 1st and 3rd grades. During this time, I also spent two years as our building’s instructional coach focusing on integrating writing into all subjects, including related arts. Eight years ago I moved back to special education as an inclusion teacher. This is my sixth year with CFI 27. My husband and I have been married for over 30 years. He works for Citizens Energy Group, and we have three daughters. My oldest daughter is a Registered Nurse at the Endoscopy Center at Franciscan. My middle daughter works at St. Vincent’s hospital, and my youngest daughter is a CT technician at Franciscan. I love to travel, read, walk, listen to music, and host game night for family and friends.
