Ables, Elise

Ms. Ables, Elise- SECOND GRADE

I was born in Chicago, spent my childhood and teenage years in Zanesville, Ohio, and came to Indianapolis after graduating from Bowling Green State University. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with a concentration in early childhood. I have been married for 23 years to my wonderful husband, Kevin and we have two children – Haley(21) and Grant(18).

I enjoy traveling, cooking, baking, decorating, and spending time with family and friends.  I tend to have a sweet tooth (ice cream is my favorite dessert).

While a mother of two young children, I spent several years being a substitute teacher for IPS.  On more than one occasion, these positions turned into ‘long term’ teaching jobs at various schools and grade levels.  These valuable experiences allowed me to work with several quality teachers, absorb different methods and styles of teaching, while learning what works, and what doesn’t. Prior to working at IPS, I taught in Carmel Clay, Washington Township, and Hamilton Southeastern School districts. My many positions include: Teacher Assistant, Title One Teacher, working with children with learning disabilities, Kindergarten, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Teacher. I came back in 2015 as a full-time teacher. I taught 2nd grade at Sidener Academy. I then came to CFI #2 in 2016 and taught 1st grade. In 2017 I began teaching 2nd grade.

I am looking forward to a great year with my class and getting to know each student.
