Principal’s Update 10.19.19

  • I have recommended all of the people for the new positions we talked about last month: the AP, instructional assistant for K-2 academics, and the additional behavior support staff member. I can’t announce names yet, but they should be starting within the next month.
  • We got new water fountains through the Rethink your Drink grant through Delta Dental. The two new fountains have water bottle filling stations. So far, we have saved over 900 plastic bottles with the filling stations.
  • Mission Moment: Inspiring children to transform the world. This week’s mission moment goes to our K-2 Girl Scout Troop 5019. They noticed a lot of trash around the playground and decided to take action. They bought a trash can and spray painted it. All the girls added their hand prints, they painted some details on it and then put it out for our community to use. They also cleaned up the playground and collected about 5 plastic grocery bags full of trash from the playground. It’s awesome to see our girl scout troops supporting our school’s mission.
  • Enrollment for next year opens this week on November 1st. All enrollment goes through enroll Indy. I want to clarify that if your child is already in our school K-7 they DO NOT have to reapply. If you have a pre-K student you do have to apply for kindergarten. Help us with spreading the word about our school. We have an event through the district called Showcase of Schools on November 10th. If you’re able to volunteer to help us with that event you can let April or myself know. It’s great to have parents help us with enrollment events so that they can provide the parent perspective.
