In an effort to help parents understand and confront the structural foundations of racial inequity in society, Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is offering a free transformative experience for parents: the Groundwater Presentation.
This 3-hour virtual training course, presented in collaboration with the district’s Racial Equity Institute (REI), offers a unique opportunity to delve into the complexities of racial equity., said Dr. Patricia Payne, director of the IPS Office of Racial Equity and Inclusion (REI).
“In a world where change is constant, this presentation offers a steady foundation for parents to engage with, internalize, and act upon the knowledge gained,” she said. “It’s not just a training course; it’s a pivotal moment in pursuing a more equitable society. By joining this transformative experience, IPS parents can become catalysts for change, leading us towards a world where racial equity is the bedrock of our collective progress.”
Parents can engage in a thought-provoking journey that fosters awareness, empathy, and, ultimately, action by enrolling on the IPS website or through their student’s school administrator or FACE Liaison.
Groundwater presentations will be strategically spread throughout the year, allowing parents to choose a date that suits them. All presentations will be conducted virtually via Zoom
