IPS is Proud to be Public! We
want to extend a sincere welcome to our newest neighbors from around the world.
Because we value diversity, IPS is honored to host
our community partners during the Refugee Summit at Forest Manor Professional
Development Center on Wednesday, January 27 from 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
The purpose of this work session – in alignment with IPS Strategic Plan 2015
cultivate community-wide plans to provide stronger services for refugee and
immigrant families in Indianapolis through open dialogue and by leveraging a
myriad of local resources.
Charities Indianapolis
, founded in 1919, provides support services to
families across the city through donor contributions and sponsorships to carry
out its inspiring mantra, Providing Help. Creating Hope. Serving All. In
2015, there were 587 arrivals to the Indianapolis area; Catholic Charities
Indianapolis projects a comparable number of approximately 570 new arrivals in
2016. As the number of refugee and immigrant families grows in our city, so
does the need for high-quality support programs.
The Summit will consist of informative and interactive
breakout sessions related to several areas including, but not limited to, the
following topics:
  • Education
  • Housing
  • Health
  • Safety
  • Employment
  • Legal services
  • Cultural integration
During the breakout sessions, groups will discuss trends,
needs and obstacles they’ve discovered while supporting refugee and immigrant
families. Local experts will facilitate these conversations with a
collaborative, solution-based focus.
