IPS is currently seeking applicants for the 2021–22 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council.
The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is comprised of IPS students, who firmly believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed and has the power to create their own futures.
Council members will actively engage with their respective school communities to provide meaningful feedback to IPS Superintendent Dr. Aleesia Johnson and to district leadership. Council members will also be tasked with executing a project that will help move IPS forward.
The Student Advisory Council is a fantastic approach to engage people while also collectively impacting IPS schools with a project on challenges you see within the public education system innovatively. Something that is without a doubt worthwhile in which to participate!
Austyn Davis, Junior, Herron High School
My experience with the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is something hard to describe with words. It was a feeling more than an experience. I met many amazing people and got to work with people with diverse ideas. We all worked together to succeed with one goal. It was a very inclusive environment.
Emily Baca, Senior, George Washington High School
The 2020-21 council initiated the district’s first “The Express Yourself Challenge,” an effort to engage IPS students in creating art to raise awareness around mental health and social justice.
