Students from Shortridge Magnet High School for Law and Public Policy will represent Indianapolis Public Schools in the State High School Mock Trial competition. The Shortridge Mock Trial Team competed in the preliminary competition last month, finishing in third place with a record of 5-1. Their strong performance earned the Shortridge team an automatic bid to compete in the state finals happening on March 7.

“Congratulations to the entire Shortridge team for representing the law magnet and IPS so well,” said Mock Trial coach Dr. Randolph Cochran.

Two of our students received special recognition at the preliminary competition. Senior Markell P. earned an individual “Best Witness” award for his exceptional portrayal of two key witnesses. Sophomore Tyla S. earned an individual “Most Effective Attorney” award for her excellent advocacy skills.

We are proud of these Shortridge students for all of their hard work and dedication to preparing for the competition, and we look forward to celebrating their continued success!
