Shortridge Social Worker Honored for Dedication to School

Teach Indy and the College Football Playoff Foundation honored Shortridge High School staff member Linda Temme with its Extra Yard for Teachers Award Friday before the start of the prep football game between Emmerich Manual High School and Shortridge High School.

Temme, a social worker for 26 years with Indianapolis Public Schools, received a Donors Choose gift card for school supplies and other items.

“I am currently in my fifth year at Shortridge and loving every minute of it,” she said. “My favorite part is seeing the students grow during their four years, assisting with problem solving in their personal lives, and helping them realize their goals and potential. It is such an awesome feeling seeing them walk across the stage.”

Shortridge Principal Dennis Thomas said Temme strongly contributes to student success.

“Linda is always present and willing to step up in the support of those students with the most barriers, building the skills and providing resources, so all students at Shortridge have access to a high-quality education,” he said.

The CFP Foundation works with organizations to support educators and improve student outcomes by elevating the teaching profession and empowering teachers.
