The return from fall break brings an exciting new opportunity for students as we celebrate the first day of classes at Simon Youth Academy (SYA) at Circle Centre! On October 20, students and staff will meet in the state-of-the-art facility for the beginning of the newest academic program in Indianapolis Public Schools.

SYA is a collaboration between IPS and the Simon Youth Foundation to bring an innovative educational option to high school juniors and seniors. Students can take advantage of a blended learning environment with SYA’s high-tech facility and flexible schedules to ensure they reach graduation on time. As an extension of the IPS Career Technology Center, SYA offers courses in Commercial Photography and Digital Marketing – students will receive hands-on training to prepare them for a career after high school or to give them a head start on their college goals.

“The Simon Youth Academy staff and I are anxious to see all of our students walk through our doors for the first time,” exclaimed SYA Coordinator Teresa James-Robinson. “We hope that they are as excited as we are, and we cannot wait to begin our journey together!”

In addition to training in the popular fields of photography and marketing, students will have a chance to collaborate with mall retailers for valuable internship and job shadowing opportunities.

There’s still time to join this innovative and exciting program; juniors with at least 10 credits and seniors with at least 20 credits are eligible to apply for SYA. Click here for more information and to apply online now!
