Shortridge Magnet High School for Law and Public Policy is celebrating a big win, as the Lady Blue Devils are IPSAC golf champions! This is the second year in a row these talented ladies have taken home the conference title.
Shortridge’s girls golf team won the district conference championship by a healthy margin of 39 strokes; their closest competitor was Emmerich Manual High School. Three of the top 4 golfers in the tournament were from Shortridge. The Lady Blue Devils are undefeated this season – only two regular season matches remain against Gambold Preparatory Magnet High School and Heritage Christian.
“I am most proud of the character and integrity of the team,” says coach Dr. Randolph Cochran. “This team is the hardest working team I have ever had the pleasure of coaching and are and should be the standard of IPS golf.”
The team’s recent scholastic achievements are to be admired as well. Last season, the team had a GPA average of 3.78. Many Lady Blue Devil golfers are part of the Butler Early College Program where they have earned the right to attend college courses on the Butler campus. They’re also on track to graduate with honors. There are many reasons for Shortridge to be proud of these young women!
