Arlington Woods School 99 students collect the recycling in their building. November 15 is America Recycles Day – have you taken the pledge to save the planet? Indianapolis Public Schools is proud to join the “green movement” by expanding our recycling program across the district!

We’re excited to use this environmentally friendly initiative as an educational experience for our students and staff. Each IPS school is encouraged to form a “green team” – a group of students, staff and community partners committed to serving our community through eco-friendly efforts. Parents are also invited to join in our expanded recycling initiative!

“We will need your collective creativity and ingenuity to make the IPS recycling initiative a success,” says IPS recycling champion Kristi Hardin.

Recycling bins from our partners at Waste Management are now present at every IPS school and facility, but the efforts certainly won’t end there. We look forward to the classroom opportunities that surface as our teachers and students examine the impact of our new recycling program. Maybe our robotics teams can come up with some green-themed projects once competition season is finished!
