Indianapolis Public Schools
is proud to welcome Arlington High School back into the district. On August 3,
2015, a new chapter begins for Arlington as their new principal Mr. Stan Law
leads them in a new direction.

“The selection committee
thought Stan was the perfect choice among their candidates,” said Academic
Improvement Officer Dr. Ve-Lecia Council. “He knows Arlington students and the
school community, and has a rich history with IPS and the city of
Indianapolis.”

Arlington has been under the
control of the State since 2012 but was awarded back to IPS in December 2014
for the 2015-2016 school year. IPS looks forward to the challenge of rebuilding
excellence and pride around Arlington High School. Superintendent Dr. Lewis D.
Ferebee views
this as an opportunity to “get it right.”

IPS
wants and needs everyone in our community to be greatly involved in the
transformation of Arlington High School. This will be a triumphant grand
endeavor only if all parties are engaged and accountable, which includes the
principal, school administrators, teachers, students and parents actively
working together. Dr. Ferebee acknowledged an
“all hands-on approach” will be needed to ensure Arlington’s success. Reopening
activities will surely extend beyond August 3, the first day of school;
however, the excitement kicks off with an open house on June 30. We encourage
Arlington alumni and their families to join students, staff and parents for an
evening of fun at their former and “new” school!
