For several decades, Indianapolis Public Schools has
partnered with the United Way of Central Indiana
(UWCI) to serve IPS students, families and neighborhoods.

To back their efforts, teamIPS has generously pledged to
support the organization that directly helps our community in so many ways. One
of the ways we show our support is by participating in the IPS Annual United
Way Campaign, which runs through May 2.

The money UWCI receives through the campaign allows the
organization to help IPS in various ways, including:

  • ReadUP 3rd grade expansion: 19 IPS elementary schools are partnering with United Way’s
ReadUP program to help our 3rd-graders pass IRead. As the program
receives more funding, ReadUP will be able to expand into more schools where
    reading tutors are needed.
  • United Christmas Service: This initiative provides food, clothing and toys to families in
need. IPS refers the greatest number of families to receive these services.
  • Back Pack Attack: United Way is one
of many community partners that collects schools supplies and distributes them
    to students in need.
  • Hubbard Life-Changing Teacher and Principal Award: This program honors teachers and
principals who go above and beyond to educate students. Four outstanding
teachers will be selected to receive $25,000 each, and up to six finalists will
be awarded $1,000 each. Likewise, up to four school principals can be named
finalists with two being awarded $25,000 and the two finalists receiving $1,000
each. The winners will be honored at an awards dinner May 18.
  • 91
    agencies ready to assist:
Donations support 91 United Way agencies that
provide wraparound services for IPS students, families and our neighbors in
    greatest need.

We are proud to support the UWCI as it provides powerful
support to our schools and to those in our community who are homeless, striving
to be financially stable or struggling with addiction and health challenges.

IPS Annual United Way Campaign is now underway.
