Whether students are seeking to get ahead of their graduation timeline or catch up on required credits, summer is an excellent time to earn additional course credits. This year, Indianapolis Public Schools is proud to offer IPS high school students an opportunity to accelerate their high school experience by attending the IPS Online Virtual Summer School!


Now being offered for free to IPS high school students, Virtual Summer School will take place from July 6-July 29, 2016. Any 9th-12th grade student may participate in these courses to earn new and additional credit (or credits) during the summer break. Our online instruction will utilize Edgenuity, an online educational program regularly used in our district’s blended learning environments. Courses offered in the 2016 Virtual Summer School Session include:




·       Algebra 1-1 and 1-2

·       Algebra Enrichment 1-1 and 1-2

·       Algebra II, 1-1 and 1-2

·       Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry 1-1 and 1-2

·       Geometry 1-1 and 1-2



·       Earth and Space Science 1-1 and 1-2

·       Chemistry I, 1-1 and 1-2

·       Biology 1-1 and 1-2

·       Integrated Chemistry-Physics 1-1 and 1-2



·       English 9, 1-1 and 1-2

·       English 10, 1-1 and 1-2

·       English 11, 1-1 and 1-2

·       English 12, 1-1 and 1-2



·       Geography and History of the World 1-1 and 1-2

·       U.S. Government/U.S. History 1-1 and 1-2

·       World History and Civilizations 1-1 and 1-2

·       Psychology 1-1 and 1-2

·       Sociology

·       Economics

Introduction to Art History



·       Health and Wellness Education

·       Introduction to Business

·       Career Planning and Development

·       Personal Finance



Credits earned through these courses will be accepted by any Indiana high school. Again, students can earn additional course credits for free this summer for IPS students! Students outside of our district may also register for Virtual Summer School – the fee is only $99 per course. Our online registration is live at this link. The deadline to register for courses is July 13. Payments may be mailed to the IPS Accounting office or delivered in person at 120 E. Walnut Street.
