Indianapolis Public Schools thrives on strong partnerships with businesses and community leaders throughout our city; these collaborations have created an abundant amount of unique learning experiences for IPS students. Last year, we joined forces with Nextech to boost student interest in computer-related career fields; and now, a special opportunity is being made available to our high school students. Studies show that 51% of the 9.2 million science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)-related jobs in the U.S. between 2010 and 2020 will be in computing; IPS is committed to helping our students reach their full potential and graduate prepared to achieve success beyond our doors.

Nextech has launched a brand new program that will help students in Indianapolis gain knowledge of the high-demand skills needed to excel in the technology industry. Nextech Catapult is a rigorous 15-month fellowship that will provide students the opportunity to gain invaluable employability skills and internship experiences in the technology field. Upon completion of the program, students will graduate with resumes that far exceed those of their peers, availing them to vast opportunities in continued education, gainful employment or military enlistment. The Nextech Catapult program combines a six-week boot camp during the summer of 2016, workshops and events throughout the 2016-2017 school year and a full-time, paid internship at a local technology company that will equip students with many of the prerequisites needed to pursue a career in technology.
