As you’ve heard, the IPS Facilities Utilization Taskforce Report recommends that the district operate only four high schools in the 2018-19 school year. If you haven’t had an opportunity to participate in the community meetings hosted by the IPS Board of School Commissioners on potential high school closures, you have one last chance!

Join us Thursday, May 18, 2017, for our fifth and final meeting on the city’s south side at the Garfield Park Burrello Family Center at 2345 Pagoda Dr.

IPS added this meeting to our original list of four to make sure we provide families in all areas of our district as many opportunities as possible to hear the taskforce report and respond!

It is important for the community to hear how the Taskforce’s recommendation to operate four high schools would save $4 million dollars that would be used to directly enhance students’ learning experiences. No choice programs will be discontinued.  They will be moved to the schools that remain open. No schools will be named until June and no decision will be made before September. But, we need to hear from you now!

Registration is encouraged at myips.org/registration This will hold your seat until the meeting start time at 6pm.

If you can’t attend the meeting, you can read the report and review all of the community meeting materials online.  You can submit your feedback here as well.
