IPS COVID Health and Safety Protocols for Summer 2021

During summer 2021, Indianapolis Public Schools will continue to adhere to the following health and safety protocols in an effort to keep district students, staff and families safe.

Updated guidance for the 2021–22 school year will be provided to families and staff in July.

Summer 2021 IPS COVID Protocols

Masks: Masks are required for all students, staff and visitors — regardless of vaccination status.

Social Distancing: Students, staff and visitors should maintain a minimum of three (3) feet of distance at all times and must be masked. Students should be seated at desks a minimum of three (3) feet away from each other and facing the same direction.

Visitors/Volunteers: Volunteers and families may be in buildings, but they must be masked and distanced.

Buses: High touch areas will continue to be cleaned after each tier, and buses sanitized after concluding morning and afternoon runs.

Social distancing and masks continue to be required on buses. Students need to have a mask with them when they arrive at their bus stop. Buses carry extra masks but cannot provide one each day to students.

Athletics: Guidance for athletics is similar to the 2020–21 school year guidelines. For more details, click HERE.

Board Meetings: Public attendance is by registration only and seating is limited to ensure proper social distancing. Masks are required at all Board meetings and those attending must provide their own masks.

Cleaning Protocols: Frequent cleaning of buildings and high touch areas such as bathrooms and door handles will continue per CDC guidance.
