A new district calendar has been proposed to the IPS Board of School Commissioners for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 school year calendars. The calendar was discussed at the January 13 Briefing Session, and commissioners are expected to take action at the January 27 Board Session.

The proposed schedule includes:

  • Balanced calendar model
  • Optimistically sufficient weather make-up days
  • Five district-wide professional development days (increased from previous years)
  • Two-week breaks in fall and spring
  • 180 attendance days for students, 190 for staff
  • Three days of Thanksgiving vacation
  • Seven flex days to accommodate for inclement weather cancellations
