“We are the first school district in the country to
implement this particular strategy to improve the overall performance of our
district,” said IPS Innovation Officer Aleesia Johnson. We believe that all
students deserve a high-quality education, and our Innovation School
partnerships are an explicit example of that commitment.  Even being this
early in the school year, it has been incredible to see the high levels of
collaboration happening between the district and our partners.  It makes
me believe even stronger in what’s possible when we work collectively toward
the singular goal of ensuring that all students are successful.”

The idea of Innovation Network Schools began with Indiana’s
Public Law 1321, creating a pathway for autonomous schools in partnership with
IPS and outside partners. A new law penned by state leaders this year not only
expanded the Innovation Network to districts statewide, but also allowed IPS
more opportunities to transform existing schools into Innovation Network Schools.
Under this law, IPS may reconstitute any schools in the district to become part
of the Innovation Network, and open new Innovation Network Schools in any
building where there is capacity.

IPS is proud to have a leading role in this concept, which
allows districts the autonomy to seek opportunities for strategic partnerships
and ensure continued student success.

We’re excited to see how the Innovation Network grows within
IPS; you can follow our latest news on these exciting schools here!
