Are you ready to sample some of the greatest food in town while supporting Indianapolis Public Schools’ students on their way to college? It’s time for the 7th annual Taste of the Westside!

This annual event brings together the flavors of west Indy’s locally-owned restaurants, and all of the proceeds go directly to George Washington Community High School students through the Dollars for Scholars program!

“We deliberately feature the local ‘mom and pop’ restaurants of our area to highlight their businesses,” said George Washington Community School Coordinator Ann Kreicker, “and they’re so good!”

Join us this Friday, February 5, from 5-6:30 p.m. at West Park Christian Church (24 North Addison) for an evening of food and celebration of community partnership. Dozens of restaurants donate food to the event to maximize the benefit to George Washington students; IUPUI scholars, community members and George Washington staff members volunteer to serve the scrumptious tasting plates. For the IUPUI students, this event is an extension of their mentorship program with George Washington.

“IUPUI scholars are already working with our students in the classroom, and they participate in a day of service with our students at the end of the year,” said Kreicker. “This is a way for them to show our students that community service is more than a one-day commitment.”

Admission to Taste of the Westside is $8 for adults and $6 for alumni; children younger than 6 eat free. All of the proceeds from the event go to Dollars for Scholars, which provides scholarship funds for George Washington seniors and recent graduates seeking to continue their education.

We look forward to seeing you at this flavorful event!
