We are excited to announce Kelly Durr as the new Executive Director of Schools (high schools and alternative education programs) at Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). With an enthusiastic and optimistic outlook, Kelly is eager to become a part of the teamIPS family, build connections, and gain insights from the talented individuals within the organization.
Over the course of her extensive 20-year career in Anderson Community Schools, Kelly has held various roles that have contributed to her comprehensive understanding of the education landscape. She has experience as a teacher, elementary assistant principal, middle school principal and assistant principal, high school assistant principal, CTE (Career and Technical Education) director, and high school principal. Currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer, Kelly is wrapping up her second year in this pivotal role.
Throughout her professional journey, Kelly discovered a deep sense of fulfillment as a high school principal, where she thrived on guiding students through the complexities of academic and personal growth, equipping them for successful lives beyond graduation. Her tenure in secondary administrative positions has also afforded her valuable expertise in implementing alternative programs, firmly believing in the importance of tailoring educational solutions to meet the unique needs of every student, even in non-traditional educational environments.
Outside of her career, Kelly enjoys a fulfilling personal life. She is happily married and cherishes the precious moments with her 10-year-old daughter, Tatum, as well as her three adult step-children. During her leisure time, Kelly finds solace in tending to her yard and flowers, immersing herself in captivating reads, and embarking on exciting travel adventures.
While officially joining IPS on July 1, Kelly eagerly anticipates the opportunity to meet and connect with each team member. She is committed to fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive, providing unwavering support as they work together towards a common goal of transforming the lives of students and families within the IPS community.
