As IPS prepares for another school year, several district schools (elementary and high schools) will welcome new principals.

Meredith Nicholson School 96, SUPER School 19, Broad Ripple Magnet High School for the Arts and Humanities, Eliza Blaker School 55 and Louis B. Russell Jr. School 48 will all be under new leadership for the 2017-18 school year.

Here’s a look at the latest administrator assignments:

  • Broad Ripple Magnet High School for the Arts and Humanities: Longtime IPS educator and administrator Phil Shults will serve as interim principal for the performing arts and humanities high school.
  • Eliza Blaker School 55: Jean Ely, who has served as assistant principal in several IPS schools throughout her career, is the new interim principal at Eliza Blaker, a Pre-K through Grade 6 school.
  • Louis B. Russell Jr. School 48: Arthur Hinton, former principal at Eliza Blaker, is the new principal of Louis B. Russell, a Pre-K through Grade 6 school.
  • Meredith Nicholson School 96: Michelle Jackson, former assistant principal at Shortridge International Baccalaureate High School, is the new principal at Meredith Nicholson, a K-6 school.  
  • SUPER School 19: John McClure, a former physical education teacher turned school administrator, serves as principal at SUPER School 19. In 2014, he began as assistant principal at Meredith Nicholson.
