HIGH-FIVES FOR ALL — Indianapolis Indians mascot Rowdie gives out high-fives during a check presentation from DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation at Lew Wallace School 107 and at Jonathan Jennings School 109.
Every hand in the school went up at Lew Wallace School 107 when representatives from DICK’S Sporting Goods asked, “Who loves sports?”
Thanks to a sizable donation from DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, Lew Wallace is one of two IPS schools selected for a $10,000 grant. Jonathan Jennings School 109 also received $10,000.
The grants (delivered via check) were presented at both schools on Tuesday, January 29, by representatives from the sporting goods company.
To get students hyped, Rowdie (mascot for the Indianapolis Indians) made a special appearance.
“The donation money will be used by the schools for purchasing equipment, uniforms, paying for registrations for 5Ks, etc.,” said Jeremy Baugh, principal at Lew Wallace. “Essentially, the only guidance we were given for funding expense was to spend the money on youth sports in a way we see fit.”
A special thanks to DICK’S Sporting Goods for giving back to IPS students!
