to Broad Ripple Magnet High School for the Arts and Humanities for winning the
Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) All-Music Award for the second
year in a row! Achieving this award means an official citation sent
to school and district-wide administration from the ISSMA and a large banner to
proudly show the world what our students are capable of doing when they focus
and work together in music.

Tom Ewigleben,
Director of Bands at Broad Ripple, explained the award, “The Indiana State
School Music Association recognizes Hoosier schools that have achieved mastery
in a broad range of instrumental music performances, as evidenced by Gold
Ratings from adjudicated contests. On at least
four separate occasions this year, multiple ensembles from the Broad Ripple
Band Program received a Gold Rating for a superior performance level, which
earned them the All-Music Award for the second time in a row.”

Being a
two-time winner of this award increases exposure of Broad Ripple as a top
performing arts school. We are proud of Broad Ripple and the arts program they
have cultivated. Winning such an award only enhances the confidence in students
and builds great character.

A huge
thanks also goes out to all of the talented music
teachers and instructors whose hard work and dedication to our students’ arts
education helps make this award possible.

Ewigleben said, “There are more than a few high-powered suburban schools
that DO NOT achieve this recognition. The Band Program at Broad Ripple is
special, and its prominent place in the curriculum of the school is critical to
maintaining our image to prospective families in and outside the district. We are living proof of the value of a
well-rounded education for IPS students, which
includes the arts.”
