Arsenal Tech Honor Students Serve through Recycling Arsenal Technical High School National Honor Society (NHS) students are completing their community service hours in a unique way this year. They’re working with Arsenal Tech’s custodial staff to collect recyclables in all of the campus buildings.

Due to Arsenal Tech’s size, it was difficult for the custodial department to move all the recycling bins.

Martha Garing, the NHS Sponsor, worked with the students and the head of the Arsenal Tech custodial staff to devise a plan to collect the recycling from four different buildings on campus.

“The students love it because they have fun,” Garing said. “They enjoy helping the school and the environment. I think the power of volunteerism brings them the sense of satisfaction that we try to encourage!”

“I usually don’t recycle at home, but now I see how much can be recycled here,” Arsenal Tech senior Judy C. said. “I’m going to talk to my parents about recycling at home, too.”

Senior Julian D. added, “It’s important that our generation takes care of the planet since we will be inheriting that responsibility.”

We couldn’t agree more, and we’re proud of our students for stepping up and helping out with advancing our green initiative!
