43rd Annual IPS Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) Racial Equity and Inclusion Office is hosting the 43rd annual tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Friday, Jan. 12, from 10-11 a.m. at Crispus Attucks High School.

The program will air virtually and can be viewed throughout the community via the IPS YouTube channel and on WFYI-1.

The 2024 theme is “Courageous Conversations Required.” 

The tribute will feature student performances and community leaders, including Cherrish Pryor, State Representative, Indiana House District 94, and John Cebron Russell, Jr., Senior Pastor at University United Methodist Church and Senior Staff Chaplain with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The program also includes performances by Building Blocks Academy Scholars, Arsenal Technical High School’s JROTC Color Guard, Ralph Waldo Emerson School 58’s Carter Bell, James Whitcomb Riley School 43’s Alexis Ingram and the Crispus Attucks High School Choir.

IPS schools will be closed Jan. 15 in observance of the national holiday.
