2024-25 School Year Updates

As we continue implementation for the first year of our Rebuilding Stronger initiative, we want to ensure you and your family stay informed. This week’s message includes important information for the current school year and the 2024-25 school year.

Xello Family Communication

Xello is an online college and career readiness program your child is using in school to help them prepare for the future. This program supports all students in Grades K-12 and is required in district-managed schools. Students in Grades K-2 do one lesson per semester. Students in Grades 3-12 do at least one lesson per quarter.

The district has created a Xello Family account for you, for which you will receive an email about early next week. The email will include a link to activate your account within seven days of receiving it. All you’ll need to do to get started is set a password, and then start tracking your student’s progress.

24-25 School Year Enrollment

Round 2 of the IPS enrollment window for the 24-25 school year is open through April 19 through Enroll Indy. Thanks to our Rebuilding Stronger Initiative, IPS has a variety of exciting options for students in Grades K-12.

Our Middle School options and offerings include everything from music, art and foreign languages to early high school advanced coursework for students in Grades 6-8. If you are considering a switch from your guaranteed middle school and are interested in another one of our middle school options, including STEM, Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), International Baccalaureate (IB) and others, visit the Choose Your IPS page at myips.org to learn about your choices.

Also, each of the IPS middle school websites are continually being updated to provide details on school supply lists, construction updates, extracurricular opportunities, summer offerings and much more. Be  sure you regularly check the schools’ website for updates.

Student Technology Responsible Use Agreement

An integral part of Rebuilding Stronger is ensuring all students have access to the internet to assist in their course work for the 24-25 school year. The new Student Technology Responsible Use Agreement will ensure students and families understand the responsibility of working with and maintaining those IPS devices. The revised agreement will be in PowerSchool, along with other registration forms, before the new school year begins. The signed agreement must be on file with the school before your student may use the internet at school or with IPS-owned technology devices.

Transportation Opt-In Deadline
In addition to the introduction of our new school zones, we are requiring families who desire transportation for the 24-25 school year to complete the Transportation Opt-In form provided by your student’s school. Please complete the opt-in process by July 1, 2024 (a separate form must be completed for each student). Special arrangements exist for students under an IEP or McKinney-Vento. Learn more about bus stops, schedules, safety measures, and more at myips.org.
