As we continue to prepare for the 2023-24 school year, below are districtwide leadership updates:
Tiffany Robinson, Principal, Broad Ripple IB Middle School

Tiffany Robinson will join IPS as the Principal of Broad Ripple IB Middle School, set to open in the 2024-25 school year. She has previously served as principal of Cold Spring School for one year and as assistant principal of Center for Inquiry School 27 for five years.
Robinson is a first-generation graduate of Indiana University and holds two master’s degrees. She has experience as a teacher and instructional coach and has shown remarkable achievements in her previous roles. Robinson is committed to serving underrepresented communities, advocating for students’ academic and social-emotional growth, and has expertise in curriculum development, accountability, and diversity equity and inclusion.
Hilary Duvall, Principal, CFI 27

Mrs. Duvall, an experienced educator with 14 years of experience, joins CFI 27 as Principal. In her previous role at Raymond F. Brandes School 65, she achieved the highest student achievement for NWEA in the K-6 learning community for two consecutive years and reduced negative office referrals by 35%.
Prior to joining IPS, she served as an Assistant Principal in a small rural corporation northeast of Indianapolis for two years. With eight years of classroom teaching experience, Mrs. Duvall also taught ESL evening classes with a diverse student population representing over 20 countries. Her background as an International Baccalaureate district Literacy Coach will contribute to closing the achievement gap and providing a comprehensive educational experience for students. Mrs. Duvall is committed to facilitating a successful school transition and collaborating with the CFI 27 community.
Dennis Thomas, Director of Inquiry (District)

Dennis Thomas, an educator with over 25 years of experience, has taught at Broad Ripple High School and Cathedral High School. He has taught a variety of subjects and also served as a track coach. After spending time in Atlanta, where he was involved in public, private, and charter schools as a parent and professional, Dennis returned to Indianapolis in 2013 and worked as Vice Principal for Academics at Cathedral High School.
He most recently served as the principal of Shortridge High School. Dennis is dedicated to creating a positive school culture and ensuring all students have access to a rigorous curriculum. He holds degrees in Secondary Education and Education Administration. His great-grandmother, a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse, inspired his passion for education. Dennis resides in the Irvington neighborhood of Indianapolis.
Andrea Salmon, Principal, Shortridge High School

Andrea Salmon, an educator with 16 years of experience and 10 years as an administrator, is originally from Muncie, Indiana. She attended the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she played softball while pursuing her college education. Prior to joining Shortridge High School, she worked as a special education teacher for five years and as an administrator for five years in Fort Wayne.
At Shortridge, she served as a dean for one year and as an assistant principal for three years. Andrea currently resides in the Indianapolis Public Schools District and is proud to live in the community she serves. She is a devoted Chicago Bears fan and a mother to three adopted dogs. Andrea’s personal experiences as a struggling learner and teenager, coupled with the support she received from parents and caring adults, inspired her to become an educator and administrator. Her passion lies in paying it forward and providing support to students who need someone to care about them.
Heather Varno, Senior Coordinator, Social Studies (District)

Mrs. Varno has worked in education since she began with IPS in 2007. She was a classroom teacher and school counselor before stepping into the of role as administrator of Sidener in October 2018. She is proud of her role as wife and mom. Mrs. Varno is passionate about students and staff, but also loves Elton John and shopping for cool vintage finds.
